Guide Review - Beefeater Discovery 2-Burner
For many years Beefeater grills have been amongst the most popular of the Australian style gas grills. Australian style grills generate intense heat because the burners are very close to the cooking grates. The reduced distance means these units are great at direct grilling. In fact many are sold without hoods and used only for direct grilling. The Discovery line of grills from Beefeater represents their least expensive and smallest grills. This 2-burner unit is very small so if you need the space this isn't the grill for you. However if you want a good grill, well made and don't need great indirect grilling abilities this is a good unit to look at. The 30,000 BTUs are a little low for the size, but since the grill is so small you won't really notice it, just plan on giving it time to heat up. The heavy porcelain coated cast iron cooking grates will hold a lot of heat and give you good searing power. The low hood isn't going to give you space for beer can chicken but there is enough room for most items you'll want to grill.
While this grill and all the units in the Discovery line are made in China under contract with Beefeater this unit is very well made and quite solid feeling. If you are interested in one of these grills they go all the way to five burners.
